He says he is a writer and traveller who goes from one village to another looking for stories, ideas and experiences. He requests them to let him stay that night because he is tired. The family is hesitant but agrees because they feel bad to send away a guest asking for a little help. The next morning, instead of leaving Channakeshava makes some small excuses and continues to hang around their house and even offers money for their expenses like making tea for him.
