Starring: Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, K. S. Ashwath, Aarathi, Leelavathi
Ramachari is an angry young man who is known for his temper. He has a special relationship with his college teacher played by Ashwath. Ashwath does not have children and thinks of Ramachari as his son whom he has to guide through life. They have many discussions and fights but are always Guru and Shishya.
Nagarahaavu is based on the writings of T. R. Subba Rao and follows Ramachari’s life not just through college but also into his relationships and loves and friendships. The movie is considered a legendary film in the Kannada industry not just because it is one of Puttanna Kanagal’s best movies but mainly because it gave us two superstars. This was Vishnuvardhan’s first movie as a hero (and his second movie overall) and Ambareesh’s debut. Aarathi had already debuted and was quite known by then, but this movie also established her stature in Kannada cinema.
