Directed by Prakash Raj, Oggarane is a remake of the Malayalam film, Salt N’ Pepper.
Prakash Raj works in a government archaeological department but has a passion – food. He is unmarried and in his mid 40s but leads a fairly content life though he is lonely. Giving him company are his cook and his nephew who is staying with him while looking for a job.
One day he receives a phone call from a woman (Sneha) placing an order for a dosa. She had called thinking he ran a restaurant and the two soon start chatting and he realizes that she too has a keen interest in food though she works in the entertainment industry and is living with her friend (Samyukta). Finally, one day the two decide to meet and take their phone relationship into real life. However, they are both conscious and unsure about how the other person will react to their looks and age and so decide to send substitutes on their behalf. This leads to some confusions and heartbreak as they try and reconcile to accepting themselves and having the guts to go for what they want without fear.
